Good find! So that definitely puts the "Hiroshige IV" type of attribution to rest, at least for this print.

I don't think all of the modern "Hiroshige" signed designs were based on actual Hiroshige, as Marc noted below (I remember seeing one of a noodle vendor that was borrowed from shin-hanga for example). And I still think we should call this something other than a straight reproduction, considering the degree of invention involved in coloring, line and detail (I would still hold, for all the closeness in design, that Carl's #2 has little to do with Hiroshige I!) But we certainly cannot call this an original design either. Perhaps "revamped" or "updated" Hiroshige might work best? It seems like something of a cross between ukiyo-e and the shin-hanga movement, but without the best points of either!
