I think you have to be careful about adding chemicals to whiten the print up or lessening the toning. I can image that would be much more difficult than to get a backing off a print. I also wonder if the chemicals the professionals use to reduce toning will mess up a print later on, maybe make it bright yellow or something 100 years from now. I wonder if some of these chemicals have been around long enough to know exactly what is going to happen 100 years or more from now. I know it is worth it though if the print is very toned though, then it becomes visually unappealing.
