The signature reads Seiko. An article in the most recent [No. 76] issue of Andon, the journal of the Society for Japanese Arts, argues quite convincingly that this was an art name of Watanabe Seitei, who produced prints of birds in the squarish (c. 240 x 250mm) format during the early years of the twentieth century published by Daikokuya. Among others they illustrate a wading snipe amid reeds.
