Jodi and Marc, The copy of the Hydrangeas and Doves illustrated in the Foster Book is the exceptional one. I believe that that one signature is hand written rather than a more usual in-the-block signature. Jodi, count the number of black characters near the red seal. If there are 5, it is not a first edition. If you have the Foster book, all of the other 5 character signatures in it are essentially the same - and differ from this one. If there are 3 characters only, it is possibly a first edition - dependent on other features. Marc, there is minimal variation in where the signature seal combination is placed, but there is some - only with a few specific designs. Some designs routinely show the characters and seal horizontally - again on specific designs. It's nice to have someone to talk to about all this, thank you!
