I looked up Hillier's description of these prints in his book "Utamaro" but the technique is not named. Neither does Kobayashi provide a name in his book on Utamaro. I had been assuming that this was an example of blind printing but have never been able to confirm this with a written description. Maybe someone else can help us out ?
