As in the West, even museums with important ukiyo-e collections rarely exhibit their holdings, which are too sensitive to sunlight. Exceptions are the Ohta museum in Harajuku, Tokyo which has very good shows which change frequently. This museum is also noteworthy for its architecture, ethereal (typically Japanese) atmosphere. As you can see, I am very fond of it! However, it is difficult to find unless you have a good map of the area. The Matsumoto ukiyo-e M., in spite of its name, is hardly worth a visit. Check out the National Museums in Tokyo and Kyoto. Even without print shows, you might find
wonderful stuff. The Japan Times has weekly listings of current museum shows each week. The Nezu M in Tokyo is also a must.
