What do the big auction houses mean when they describe a print as "glazed"?

I've been brought to this question by examining some prints that seem to be originals, but have an odd "glaze" on them, a sparkling material that I don't think was part of the original print. I wish I could describe it better. It's rather like someone added sparkles to the surface, just a half-dozen every square inch. The paper on the 4 prints I've seen like this has all been stiffer than what I would expect of originals, but everything else seems right. Does anyone know what I am talking about? (P.S. I'm not describing mica here - or not mica as I'm used to seeing it used. These "sparkles" cover the entire surface, but are only noticed at a certain angle..... Any ideas?)
