: : I am in search of a Shunga print called "A PEARL DIVER AND TWO OCTOPUSES" published from an album Young Pines (Kinoe no komatsu) 1814 SIGNED Shiunan Ganko, Any help is greatly appreciated.
: If you are looking for a copy of the original print, I cannot help you. But if you are trying to find a reproduction of it, there is a good one in Richard Lane's Hokusai. Life and Work (Barrie & Jenkins 1989), p 157.
Let's not give Richard Lane to much free advertising on this board (only joking). But if Peter wants a good overview of Hokusia shunga together with shunga from other artists and some good background reviews, then he should try to get the following book/catalogue:
TITLE: Shunga, images du Printemps (L'erotisme dqns l'estampe japonaise) - Shunga, lenteprenten (Erotiek in de Japanse prentkunst)
MUSEUM: Musée d'Ixelles (Belgique) - Museum van Elsene (België)
ISBN: 96-70481-88-X
I don't think there is an English edition, but it has an image of the bookprint with the two octopuses. The complete album (3 volumes) is called Kinoe no Komatsu ("Jong pine-sprouts").
